Toilet Repair and Installation in Hull
Toilet not flushing? Constantly running? Leaking at the base? A faulty toilet is one of those problems you can’t just ignore. HJZ Plumbing repairs and installs all types of toilets across Hull and East Yorkshire. With 39 years of experience and parts carried in the van, Henry can usually fix the problem in a single visit.
Toilet Problems We Fix
Toilets are one of the hardest-working fixtures in any home, and they can develop faults for all sorts of reasons. These are the most common issues we get called to in Hull:
- Toilet won’t flush properly or needs multiple flushes to clear. Usually a problem with the flush valve or siphon mechanism.
- Toilet keeps running after flushing. This wastes a surprising amount of water and is typically caused by a faulty fill valve or flapper.
- Leaking at the base where you can see water pooling around the bottom of the toilet. Often a failed wax ring or loose bolts.
- Cistern leaking into the bowl or externally, usually from worn internal parts.
- Weak flush that doesn’t clear the bowl. Can be caused by low water level in the cistern, a blocked rim, or a worn flush mechanism.
- Toilet rocking or loose on the floor, which means the fixing bolts or the floor beneath need attention.
- Blocked toilet that won’t drain at all. We can clear blockages quickly and check for deeper issues if it keeps happening.
We carry replacement flush valves, fill valves, handles, buttons, seals, and cistern internals in the van, so most toilet repairs are done there and then.
Toilet Installation
If your toilet needs replacing (or you’re fitting one in a new bathroom), we install all types:
- Close-coupled toilets (the most common type, cistern sits on top of the pan)
- Back-to-wall toilets where the cistern is hidden behind a panel or in the wall
- Wall-hung toilets mounted off the floor for a modern, easy-to-clean look
- Low-level and high-level toilets for period or traditional style bathrooms
- Comfort height toilets for elderly or less mobile users
We handle the full installation including waste connections, water supply, and making sure everything is level and sealed. If you’re swapping an old toilet for a new one, we’ll remove and dispose of the old unit too.

Common Questions
My toilet keeps running. Is that expensive to fix?
No. A running toilet is usually caused by a worn flapper or fill valve, and it’s one of the quickest repairs we do. The parts cost a few pounds and the job is normally done in under an hour. It’s well worth getting fixed though, because a running toilet can waste hundreds of litres of water a day.
Can I buy my own toilet and have you fit it?
Yes. Plenty of our customers buy their toilet from a bathroom showroom or online and we just fit it. Make sure it comes with all the fixings and a cistern kit. If you’re not sure what to buy, give us a call and we’ll advise based on your existing plumbing setup.
