Burst pipe? Leaking joint? Frozen pipes in winter? HJZ Plumbing repairs all types of pipework across Hull and East Yorkshire. Whether it’s an emergency burst at 3am or a slow drip that’s been getting worse, Henry has 39 years of experience fixing pipe problems and will get it sorted properly.

Pipe Problems We Fix

  • Burst pipes caused by freezing, corrosion, or high pressure. We stop the water, repair or replace the damaged section, and restore the supply.
  • Leaking pipe joints where copper, plastic, or pushfit connections have failed.
  • Frozen pipes in winter. We safely thaw the pipe and check for any splits or cracks that may have formed.
  • Corroded pipework that’s thinning and starting to weep. Common in older properties with original copper or galvanised steel pipes.
  • Noisy pipes that bang, hammer, or vibrate when taps are turned on. Usually caused by loose clips, high pressure, or water hammer.
  • Re-routing pipework when a kitchen or bathroom is being moved or reconfigured.
  • Pipe insulation to protect exposed pipes in lofts, garages, and external walls from freezing.

Common Questions

How do I prevent pipes from freezing?

Make sure pipes in your loft, garage, and any unheated spaces are properly insulated with foam lagging. In very cold weather, keep your heating on a low background temperature overnight rather than turning it off completely. If you’re going away in winter, set the heating to come on for a couple of hours a day.

My pipes bang when I turn the tap off. Is that a problem?

That’s called water hammer and it’s caused by a sudden change in water pressure when a valve closes quickly. It’s not usually dangerous, but it can loosen joints over time. We can fit a water hammer arrestor or adjust the pipework to stop it.
