Leak Repair in Hull
Water leaking somewhere in your home? Even a small drip can cause serious damage if it’s not dealt with quickly. HJZ Plumbing finds and fixes leaks across Hull and East Yorkshire. Henry has 39 years of plumbing experience and knows where to look, how to trace the source, and how to fix it properly the first time.
Types of Leaks We Repair
Leaks can show up anywhere in a plumbing system. Some are obvious (a puddle on the floor), others are hidden behind walls or under floors and only show up as damp patches or a higher-than-expected water bill. We deal with all of them:
- Leaking pipes behind walls, under floors, or in loft spaces
- Leaking joints where copper, plastic, or pushfit connections have failed
- Radiator leaks from valves, connections, or corroded panels
- Leaking taps at the base, spout, or handle
- Toilet leaks from cisterns, supply lines, or at the base
- Cylinder and tank leaks from hot water cylinders or cold water tanks in the loft
- Leaking shower trays and bath wastes
- Outside leaks from external taps, supply pipes, or drain connections
How We Find Hidden Leaks
Not all leaks are visible. If you’ve got a damp patch on a wall, a wet ceiling, or an unexplained increase in your water bill, there could be a hidden leak. We use a systematic approach to trace the source:
- Visual inspection of all accessible pipework, joints, and fixtures.
- Pressure testing to isolate sections of pipework and identify where the pressure drops.
- Moisture meter readings to trace damp through walls and floors.
- Checking your water meter with all taps off to see if it’s still ticking over (which confirms a leak somewhere in the supply).
Once we’ve found the source, we’ll explain the options and give you a clear price before starting the repair.

Common Questions
How do I know if I have a hidden leak?
The most common signs are unexplained damp patches on walls or ceilings, a musty smell, peeling paint or wallpaper, or a water bill that’s higher than usual. If you turn off all the taps and appliances and your water meter is still moving, you’ve almost certainly got a leak.
Can you fix a leak without ripping up the floor?
Often, yes. It depends on where the leak is and how the pipes are routed. In many cases we can access the pipework through floorboards or panels without major disruption. We always aim to cause as little mess as possible.
