Bathroom Installation and Renovation in Hull
Thinking about a new bathroom? Whether you want a complete refit or just need a few things updated, HJZ Plumbing handles bathroom installations across Hull and East Yorkshire. Henry has been fitting bathrooms for 39 years and works with you from start to finish to make sure you get the result you’re after.
What We Can Do
Every bathroom is different, and we tailor the work to what you actually need. Some customers want everything ripped out and started fresh. Others just need a new shower fitted or a toilet moved. We’re happy either way. Here’s what we cover:
- Full bathroom installations from scratch, including all plumbing, fixtures, and connections
- Bathroom renovations where we update parts of the room while keeping what still works
- Shower installations including electric showers, mixer showers, thermostatic showers, and wet rooms
- Bath fitting including standard baths, freestanding baths, and corner baths
- Toilet installations including close-coupled, wall-hung, and back-to-wall toilets
- Basin and vanity unit fitting
- Towel radiator installations
- Shower pump fitting for properties with low water pressure
- Accessible bathrooms with grab rails, level-access showers, and raised toilets for elderly or disabled users
- En-suite bathrooms created from existing bedrooms or spare rooms
We don’t do the tiling or decorating ourselves, but we can coordinate with trusted tilers and decorators in Hull so the whole job runs smoothly.
How a Bathroom Installation Works
- Assessment visit (£85). Henry comes out to look at the space, discuss what you want, check the existing plumbing, and measure up. This fee gets taken off the final bill if you go ahead.
- Written quote. You’ll get an itemised quote covering labour, materials, and any extras. No hidden costs.
- You choose your fixtures. Pick your bath, shower, toilet, taps, and tiles. We can advise on what works well together and what fits your budget.
- We do the plumbing work. This includes first fix (pipework, waste connections, shower valves) and second fix (connecting everything up, testing, and commissioning).
- Other trades come in. If tiling, flooring, or decorating is needed, we coordinate with our contacts to keep things on schedule.
- Final check and handover. We test everything, make sure you’re happy, and leave the place clean and tidy.
Our Rates
Bathroom installations are quoted on a job-by-job basis because every bathroom is different. The assessment visit costs £85, and we deduct that from the final bill if you go ahead with the work.
For smaller bathroom jobs (swapping a toilet, fitting a new shower, replacing taps), our standard rates apply:
- Weekday (8am to 5pm): From £178 + parts
- Evening (5pm to 10pm): £267/hr + parts
- Weekend and Bank Holiday: £287/hr + parts

Common Questions
How long does a bathroom installation take?
It depends on the scope of the work. A straightforward bathroom refit (new bath, toilet, basin, and shower) typically takes 3 to 5 days for the plumbing side. Add another day or two if tiling and decorating are involved. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during the assessment.
Can I supply my own bathroom suite?
Absolutely. A lot of our customers buy their own bath, shower, toilet, and taps online or from a local supplier. We’ll fit whatever you’ve chosen, as long as it meets safety standards. Labour charges stay the same whether we supply the parts or you do.
Do you do wet rooms?
Yes. Wet rooms are great for smaller bathrooms and for accessibility. We handle the plumbing side (floor drain, tanking, shower valve, and screen fitting) and work with specialist tilers for the waterproofing and tiling.
