What services does HJZ Plumbing offer?
We handle all general plumbing work, both repairs and installations. This includes tap repairs, toilet repairs, radiator replacements, leak repairs, drain unblocking, bathroom installations, shower repairs, sink installations, pipe repairs, central heating, power flushing, kitchen plumbing, and air source heat pumps.
We do not carry out any gas or boiler work as we are not Gas Safe registered.
What areas do you cover?
We cover Hull and the surrounding East Yorkshire area: Hull (HU1 to HU9), Anlaby (HU10), Bilton (HU11), Hedon (HU12), Hessle (HU13), North Ferriby (HU14), Brough (HU15), Cottingham (HU16), Beverley (HU17), Hornsea (HU18), Bridlington (YO15), Driffield (YO25), and Goole (DN14).

All prices include a 12 month workmanship guarantee. No hidden fees. Parts are charged separately at cost.
Pricing and Payments
Do you charge for assessments?
Yes. For larger jobs like bathroom installations or complex pipework, we charge £85 for an on-site assessment. If you go ahead with the work, the £85 is deducted from your final bill. For smaller jobs we can usually give a price estimate over the phone.
What deposit is required?
All bookings require a deposit, paid via a Stripe link we send by text message straight after booking. You have 30 minutes to pay or the slot is released.
- Working hours (8am to 5pm weekday): £90 flat
- Evening (5pm to 10pm): £133.50
- Overnight (10pm to 8am): £178
- Weekend / Bank Holiday: £143.50
- Assessment: £85 flat
The deposit is deducted from your final bill.
What payment methods do you accept?
For deposits: online payment via Stripe link (sent by text message).
For the final bill on completion: cash, card (including Apple Pay and Google Pay), bank transfer, Stripe, or cheque.
Qualifications and Safety
Are you Gas Safe registered?
No. HJZ Plumbing is not Gas Safe registered and we do not carry out any gas related work. This includes boiler servicing, repairs, installations, and gas safety certificates.
We work with trusted local Gas Safe engineers and can arrange referrals. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. All our work comes with a 12 month workmanship guarantee. If there’s a problem with something we’ve done, we’ll come back and put it right at no extra cost.
Materials we supply also come with their manufacturer warranties. The guarantee covers normal use only, not damage, misuse, or changes made by someone else.

Are you insured?
Yes. We carry £2 million public liability insurance. This covers accidental damage to your property or injury to third parties while we’re working. You can ask to see our insurance certificate before we start.
What qualifications does Henry have?
Henry (Henryk Zielinski) qualified as a plumber in 1987, giving him 39 years of hands on experience. He founded HJZ Plumbing in 2017 after decades working in both residential and commercial plumbing.
Emergencies and Booking
Do you offer 24 hour emergency plumbing?
Yes. We’re available 24/7 for genuine plumbing emergencies across Hull and East Yorkshire. Evening rates apply from 5pm to 10pm (£267/hr), overnight from 10pm to 8am (£356/hr), and weekend/bank holiday rates are £287/hr.

What counts as a genuine emergency?
We class these situations as genuine emergencies:
- Burst pipe actively flooding your property
- Major leak causing damage
- No water supply at all
- Sewage backup
- No heating in cold weather (especially for vulnerable people)
A dripping tap, slow drain, or running toilet can usually wait for a standard appointment.
How quickly can you respond to emergencies?
Same day response is usually available, subject to where our engineer is at the time. Call 07450 332 474 to check current availability.
Can I book same day?
Yes, same day bookings are usually available for urgent issues like leaks, burst pipes, blocked toilets, or loss of water. It depends on engineer availability in your area. Out of hours or emergency rates may apply.

How far in advance can I book?
Up to one month in advance. Booking ahead means we can guarantee a time slot and you’ll get standard rates rather than emergency pricing.
Cancellations and Refunds
What is your cancellation policy?
We need at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel.
- Cancel with 24+ hours notice: deposit refunded in full
- Cancel with less than 24 hours notice: deposit is not refunded
- Rescheduling with 24+ hours notice: no extra charge, subject to availability

Are deposits refundable?
Yes, if you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice forfeit the deposit. If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, the deposit transfers to your new date.
On the Day
Do you supply materials or should I buy my own?
We supply all standard materials (pipes, fittings, valves, taps, etc.) and include the cost in your quote. You’re welcome to provide your own parts or fixtures if you prefer. We’ll fit customer supplied items as long as they meet safety and compatibility standards. Labour charges stay the same either way.
What parts do your engineers carry?
Our vans are stocked with common parts so most jobs can be done in a single visit:
- Taps, mixer taps, and washers
- Toilet flush valves, cistern mechanisms, seals, and handles
- Radiator valves, connectors, and bleed keys
- Copper and plastic pipes, clips, elbows, and couplings
- PTFE tape, pipe sealant, gaskets, washers, and O rings
Specialist or larger parts may need ordering. We’ll tell you the cost and expected delivery time.
Do I need to be home during the work?
It’s recommended but not required. If you can’t be there, another adult can let us in and approve any additional work. Just make sure all instructions and approvals are agreed beforehand.
How should I prepare for a visit?
A few things that help us work efficiently:
- Clear the area around the work (move furniture, rugs, personal items)
- Make sure the stopcock is accessible
- Secure any pets
- Have any previous reports or manuals handy if relevant
- If you’re providing materials, have them ready
Do you clean up after the job?
Yes. We use protective coverings on floors and surfaces where needed, and clear up all tools, packaging, and waste before we leave. The work area will be left clean and safe.
What happens if you need to order parts?
If a part isn’t in the van, we’ll let you know straight away what’s needed, what it costs, and how long it’ll take to arrive. We’ll then book a return visit at a time that suits you. You’re also welcome to source the part yourself if you prefer.
After the Job
What if I’m not happy with the work?
Call us on 07450 332 474 and let us know. If the issue is down to our workmanship or materials we supplied, we’ll come back and fix it at no cost. That’s covered by the 12 month guarantee.
If it’s something outside our control (customer supplied parts, accidental damage, etc.) we’ll advise on the best solution and any costs involved.

Do you work on insurance claims?
Yes. If your insurer has approved the work (or needs a quote for approval), we can help. Have your policy number, claim reference, and any photos ready. We’ll provide an itemised quote to your insurer and handle the job once it’s approved.
Discounts and Payment Plans
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, the following discounts are available:
- Elderly or vulnerable customers: 10% off
- NHS and frontline workers: 10% off
- Repeat customers (2nd visit onwards): 10% off
- Loyal customers (5th visit onwards): 20% off
Mention your eligibility when booking so we can apply the discount before work starts.
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment plans are available for returning customers only. First time customers are not eligible. If you’re a returning customer and interested, mention it when you book.

Do you do both residential and commercial work?
Yes. We handle plumbing for homes and commercial properties, including repairs, installations, and system maintenance.
Do you coordinate with other trades?
Yes. We work with trusted local electricians, tilers, carpenters, and decorators. We can schedule and coordinate their work alongside ours to keep your project on track. All tradespeople we recommend are fully qualified. Their costs are quoted separately and agreed in advance.
